Training Costs
SNUBA WORLDWIDE TRAINING & CONSULTING
Training:
$500 per new SNUBA Guide Candidate
$300 per new SRC (plus $500 for initial SNUBA guide training, $800 total).
Minimum International On Site – training fee is $1800 (2 guides + 1 guide/SRC)
Training generally takes 6 to 9 days depending on size of group, level of competence, and pre-preparation. It is strongly encouraged for operators to order textbooks 3 weeks in advance of training and have candidates read and complete study questions before the RPC’s arrival.
SNUBA Guide and SRC Program Coordinator training requires each applicant to participate and complete the following:
- Snuba Textbook work-study
- Classroom sessions
- Practical applications including equipment familiarization
- Physical conditioning tests
- Public speaking to include SNUBA sales and safety briefings
- 15 check-out dives
- Final exam.
New SNUBA Guide Candidates Requirements:
Minimum requirements for employment and insurance purposes
- PADI, NAUI, SSI (or other recognized dive training agency) RESCUE DIVER and above (through Instructor)
- Current first aid training (MFA, EFR)
- Current dive physical (within last 2 years) with OK to dive by physician
The documents listed above all needs to be verifiable in document form and must to be submitted to SNUBA International with SNUBA application. There is a 30 day grace period for this information to be submitted after SNUBA training is completed, if not before. Some experience working in the dive/tourism business is preferred along with an outgoing personality and good communication/language skills.
SRC (SNUBA Recreational Center) Program Coordinator: This is an appointed leadership role within each Snuba operation. This individual is generally selected because he or she will oversee the Snuba Recreational Center operation and therefore is usually a dive professional (Divemaster and above) with demonstrated leadership skills and experience in the dive/tourism industry. The Regional or International Program Coordinator determines appointment. This candidate will not only participate in the SNUBA training but will concurrently be enrolled in the SRC Training Program and be required to demonstrate the ability to teach and train as well as gaining insights into the management and administration of a SNUBA operation.
SRC Program Coordinators are responsible for overseeing safe operations, assuring that standards are being followed and that the program is being administered with safety, quality and the highest level of customer service.
Association Fees: SNUBA guide insurance is required of all guides and SRC Program Coordinators. The annual premium is currently $480/year per guide and paid in four installments (quarterly). First quarter association dues are collected at the time of new candidate application and processing.
Additional Insurance: All Snuba Recreational Centers are required to secure their own “general liability” insurance policy (minimum of $1 million per incident) and to name Snuba International as an additionally insured to the policy.
Application Fee: There is a one-time processing fee of $50 for each new Snuba Guide candidate to be submitted to SNUBA International with completed applications and training documents.
Textbook: All new candidates are required to have their own Snuba Textbook. Textbooks are $98 each and are ordered directly from SNUBA International in advance of the proposed training dates. Textbooks are now available in various languages (English, Spanish and Japanese).
Payment Options: With new Snuba Guide candidates / employees, various arrangements can be established between the SNUBA licensee and their dive staff. Some require new employees to remain on a probationary period during which time wages are assessed for some or all of the above outlined costs including the actual cost of training. Other operations pay for their employee’s training.

*Airfares can be arranged by either party but must be fully paid for in advance of travel.
A 50% deposit is required in advance of the training and balance is due upon completion. Generally there is no charge for traveling days. Should multiple trainings be scheduled within a region arrangements can be made to share these costs.
